Chronic Headaches

Headaches that return week after week steal focus, patience, and whole days of your life. Our care plan works on the tense muscles, restricted joints, and pressure points that keep the cycle going — so the pain-free days start outnumbering the painful ones.

Understanding chronic headaches

The most common recurring headaches rarely begin in the head at all. Hours of desk work, screen use, stress, and poor sleep leave the muscles of the neck, shoulders, and jaw chronically tight. Those tight muscles develop trigger points that refer pain upward — into the temples, behind the eyes, around the skull like a band. At the same time, stiff joints in the upper neck irritate nerves that share pathways with the head. Add the habit of tensing against the pain itself, and you have a self-sustaining loop: tension causes headaches, headaches cause tension.

How our therapies help

Our plan attacks the loop from three sides. Trigger Point Therapy locates and releases the specific knots — often in the upper shoulders and at the base of the skull — that refer pain into the head, addressing the most common driver of tension-type headaches. Chiropractic care restores movement to the stiff upper-neck joints that so often accompany them, easing the mechanical irritation that keeps headaches recurring. Reflexology adds a different kind of relief: focused pressure on the feet that deeply settles the nervous system, lowering the overall tension level at which your body operates.

Fewer headaches, gradually

Progress usually shows up first as milder episodes, then as longer gaps between them. Your headache diary helps us track this honestly and spot lingering triggers — hydration, screen setup, sleep — which your therapist will help you tackle one by one. The aim is not just relieving today's headache, but retiring the pattern that produces them.

Questions we are asked

How many sessions before headaches ease?+

Many clients notice fewer or milder headaches within three to four sessions. A full course of six to ten sessions is typical for headaches that have been recurring for months or years.

What does treatment involve?+

Sessions focus on the neck, shoulders, scalp, and feet: precise pressure to release muscle trigger points, gentle chiropractic work to free stiff neck joints, and calming reflexology. Most people find sessions relieving rather than uncomfortable.

Can I keep taking my headache medication?+

Yes — our work runs alongside whatever your doctor has prescribed. In fact, as headache frequency falls, many clients find they naturally need less medication. Any changes should be agreed with your doctor.

Which headaches need a doctor urgently?+

Seek immediate medical care for a sudden, explosive "worst-ever" headache, or headache with fever and stiff neck, confusion, weakness, vision loss, or after a head injury. Those are red flags, not therapy cases.
