Insomnia

Lying awake while the clock crawls, then dragging through the next day — poor sleep wears down everything else. Our deeply calming care plan helps your body remember how to let go, so sleep can arrive on its own again.

Understanding insomnia

Sleep is not something the mind can force — it arrives only when the nervous system judges it safe to stand down. In insomnia, that switch has become stuck: stress hormones stay elevated into the evening, the mind keeps scanning and planning, and the harder you try to sleep, the more alert you become. A few bad nights turn into a pattern, and soon the bed itself becomes associated with frustration rather than rest.

Breaking the cycle means giving the body repeated, reliable experiences of deep relaxation, so that letting go becomes familiar again instead of foreign.

How our therapies help

Relaxation Techniques open each session, using calming music, sound, and gentle yoga-based breathing to guide your system out of its alert state — many people feel heaviness in the limbs and a slowing of thought within minutes. Reflexology then works precise points on the feet associated with rest and the calming branch of the nervous system; foot work is famously sleep-inducing, and it is common to doze during this part of the session.

Shiatsu completes the plan with rhythmic, comforting pressure along the body's meridians, releasing the physical tension that quietly keeps people wired at night. Repeated across a course of sessions, and anchored by a steady bedtime routine at home, this teaches the body a new default: when night comes, it powers down.

Questions we are asked

How soon will my sleep improve?+

Many people sleep noticeably better on the night of a session from the very first visit. More lasting change — falling asleep faster and staying asleep without help — typically builds over a 5–8 session course as the body relearns its rhythm.

What are the sessions like?+

Profoundly restful. A session may combine guided relaxation with calming music and sound, unhurried pressure-point work on the feet, and gentle Shiatsu touch across the body. It is common to drift off on the table.

When should I see a doctor about my sleep?+

If you snore heavily, gasp or stop breathing during sleep, experience severe daytime sleepiness, or if insomnia comes with persistent low mood or anxiety, please consult a doctor — these need medical assessment. Our care works well alongside medical treatment.
