Varicose Veins

Heavy, aching legs and visible, twisted veins are signs that blood is pooling instead of flowing freely back to the heart. Our circulation-focused care plan eases the heaviness, supports venous return, and helps your legs feel light again.

Understanding varicose veins

Veins carry blood back to the heart against gravity, relying on one-way valves and the pumping action of the leg muscles. When those valves weaken — through long hours of standing, pregnancy, heredity, or age — blood slips backwards and pools, stretching the vein walls into the ropy, twisted shapes visible under the skin. The pooling is also what produces the daily symptoms: heaviness by afternoon, ankles that swell by evening, and legs that cramp at night.

While the valves themselves cannot be repaired by hand, the circulation around them can be helped considerably — and that is where daily comfort lives.

How our therapies help

Warm packs open each session, using mild heat on the surrounding muscles — never intense heat directly on the veins — to relax the legs and ease the deep ache of a long day upright. Tuina tapping follows with light, rhythmic percussion along the leg's energy channels, a traditional Chinese technique that stimulates flow and gives a distinctive awakened lightness to heavy limbs.

Reflexology completes the plan at the feet, working circulation and lymphatic reflex points to encourage the return flow that tired veins struggle with. Combined with daily elevation, walking, and movement breaks, the course aims to give you what matters most day to day: legs that feel light in the evening, sleep without cramps, and swelling that no longer builds by nightfall.

Questions we are asked

Can therapy make varicose veins disappear?+

Honest answer: no manual therapy can remove a varicose vein — only medical procedures do that. What our sessions reliably improve is how your legs feel and function: less heaviness, less evening swelling, fewer cramps, and better overall circulation.

Is it safe to work on legs with varicose veins?+

Yes, with the right approach. We use gentle, indirect techniques and never apply deep pressure directly over enlarged veins. Your therapist will review your history first, and if there is any sign of a clot or acute inflammation we refer you to a doctor before treating.

How many sessions before my legs feel lighter?+

Most clients feel relief in the first two or three sessions, with the benefits lasting longer as the course progresses. A typical plan is 6–10 sessions along with the daily habits we teach you.

When should I see a doctor?+

Seek medical care promptly if one leg becomes suddenly swollen, hot, or painful, if skin over a vein darkens or ulcerates, or if a vein bleeds. These need medical assessment before any supportive therapy continues.
